Terms of Service

Last updated: 27 March 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of ComplianceAlert (“the Service”), operated by Dan Hall (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. About the Service

ComplianceAlert is a UK regulatory monitoring service that tracks changes published by UK government bodies and regulators — including but not limited to HSE, HMRC, ICO, ACAS, Companies House, the Food Standards Agency, the Environment Agency, and the FCA — and delivers alerts to subscribers by email.

The Service is intended for UK-based businesses and sole traders who wish to stay informed of regulatory developments relevant to their sector and region.

2. Free trial

We offer a 7-day free trial for new accounts. No card is required to start your free trial. You can add payment details at any time during or after your trial.

  • Your free trial begins on the date you create your account.
  • The trial expires automatically after 7 days.
  • We will not charge you automatically at the end of your free trial. Continued access after the trial requires you to explicitly subscribe by entering payment details.
  • We may send you a reminder before your trial expires.

3. Subscriptions and pricing

Following your free trial, continued use of the Service requires a paid subscription. Our current plans are:

Starter
£19/mo
  • 3 regulators
  • Weekly digest email
  • 1 UK region
  • Email alerts
Pro
£78/mo
  • All 20+ regulators
  • Instant alerts
  • All UK regions
  • Phone alerts
  • Priority support

Prices are quoted in GBP and are inclusive of any applicable VAT. We reserve the right to change our pricing with at least 30 days' notice.

Subscriptions are billed monthly on a rolling basis. You may cancel at any time (see section 4 below).

4. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings or by emailing hello@compliancealert.co.uk.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will continue to have access to the Service until that date. We do not pro-rate cancellations after the first 7 days of a paid subscription (see Refunds below).

5. Refunds

We offer a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of your first paid subscription period, provided you request a refund within 7 days of your first charge.

After 7 days of a paid subscription period, no refunds are issued for that period. This does not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

To request a refund, email hello@compliancealert.co.uk with your account email address and the reason for your request.

6. Limitation of liability

Informational service only. ComplianceAlert provides regulatory monitoring and alerts as an information service. Our alerts are summaries of publicly available regulatory information and do not constitute legal advice. You should not rely solely on our alerts for legal compliance decisions.

No guarantee of completeness. Whilst we take reasonable care to monitor relevant regulatory sources, we do not guarantee that our alerts are complete, accurate, timely, or that we will capture every relevant regulatory change. The regulatory landscape is complex and subject to rapid change.

Professional advice. Where compliance matters are significant, we strongly recommend you seek advice from a qualified solicitor, accountant, or specialist compliance consultant.

Liability cap. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you arising from or in connection with the Service (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) shall not exceed the total fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Excluded losses. We shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or special losses, including but not limited to loss of profit, loss of business, regulatory fines, or reputational damage, even if advised of the possibility of such losses.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from the Service
  • Share your account credentials with third parties or use the Service on behalf of multiple organisations under a single account
  • Use the Service to send unsolicited communications to third parties
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
  • Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you breach these acceptable use provisions, without liability to you.

8. Intellectual property

All content, software, and materials forming part of the Service are owned by or licensed to ComplianceAlert and are protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for your internal business purposes only.

Regulatory text and guidance reproduced in our alerts is sourced from publicly available UK government publications and remains the property of the Crown or the relevant regulatory body.

9. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will provide at least 14 days' notice of material changes by email or via the Service. Continued use of the Service after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

We may also modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. Where practical, we will provide advance notice of significant changes.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
